Early life

Heather Hutchison found her passion for music at a very early age. Born blind, Heather enriched her experience by listening to a variety of music. She started taking piano lessons at the age of five, and joined a choir at the age of seven. She started taking voice lessons at thirteen, and began writing the title song to her first EP, Hello.

On the Alberta Music Scene

In the summer of 2004 at age fifteen, Hutchison entered the Edmonton Klondike Days (currently known as the Capital Ex) Talent Explosion for the first time. One of her judges for the semi-finals was producer Brock Skywalker[1], (formerly of Captain Tractor). Skywalker worked with Hutchison to produce her first EP, Hello, which was released on April 24, 2005.

Hutchison has recorded and/or performed with various established Canadian artists, including Brock Skywalker, the Stringbeans Quartet, drummer Chris Budnardchuk (Maren Ord, the James Murdoch Band), Chris Brzezicki (Paul Bellows), Jeff Smook (Captain Tractor), and Ann Vriend.

Hutchison has performed in venues such as St. Albert's Arden Theatre, (the now-defunct) Reds, the CBC City Center Stage in downtown Edmonton, and the Yardbird Suite to a near-capacity crowd on the night of her CD release.

Heather Hutchison's musical influences include Evanescence, Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos, Vienna Teng, Corrinne May, Anna Nalick and Kyler England.
